Everybody Makes Mistakes

In the dead of winter
there is not much colder
than your frosty heart
or your frozen shoulder
I wonder would the tundra melt
if you knew how I really felt

Everybody makes mistakes
I stepped on the gas
when I should’ve hit the brakes
on this very curvy road
but that was so long ago
now I’m really driving slow

I know I wasn’t there for you
but if I could make the past be new
I would change just about everything
I would share in your laughter
and your pride and your pain
if I could make a wish come true
I would always be there for you

In the cellblocks of my mind
I have done some real hard time
and in the dungeon of my heart
there’s enough shame that it should burst apart
the gates of this living hell
but at least I can forgive myself

‘Coz everybody makes mistakes
nobody’s perfect for goodness sake
(and I’m such a far cry from it)
but this much I know is true
if you’ll only give me ½ a chance
I will always be there for you
I will always be there for you
