From Here On Out

When in the course of human events
men pursued what made no sense
injustice had grown evident
ourselves we must police
we came, we fought, we wept, we went
onward unto death’s release
this senseless waste must cease
necessity formed Parliament
and Congress declared peace

I secede from the union
I have waited far too long
for changing times to bring me signs
of a better world beyond
where everyone loves everyone
and borders are all gone

I pledge allegiance with any man
who’ll do his deeds the best he can
from Timbuktu to Katmandu to here
but from here on out
there can be no doubt
that only I can be so sure
about what’s so right for me
and there will never be a cure
till only every thought as pure
as this one crossed my mind
if only love brought liberty
'tis freedom I might find
