Yellow Courage

Courage is a virtue that should never be mixed
with something as pathetic as politics
if you’re brave enough to die
for what you believe in
then you’re capable of killing
for all the wrong reasons

Of course it doesn’t really seem to make much sense
to be killing anyone except in self defense
especially if the only way to make your point
is by sneaking on in and blowing up the joint

And then claiming responsibility
as if somehow that word could be confused
with sending children to kill children
or smashing jumbo jets into skyscrapers

I’ve got a hunch that your next sucker punch
will be hitting me below the belt
in some pizzeria while I’m having lunch
or otherwise minding my own business

72 virgins cannot justify
the yellow courage you have mustered up
to behead electricians and news ladies
while hiding behind a mask
 of bogus righteousness

A jihad is a noble mission
only on this plain condition
that your cause is just
and your means to an end
must include that you fight like men
